ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ responds to concern over Silimed breast implants

The ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ is aware of the concerns surrounding the use of poylurethane coating for certain breast implants, which has been used for many years with the goal of reduction in serious breast capsular contracture (scar tissue hardening of the breast).

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ is not aware of any new evidence about the situation, and the available data from past Food and Drug Administration (FDA) studies and others suggests that there is an extremely low risk of any additional carcinogenicity (cancer production) from the use of this material.

We therefore offer reassurance at this stage for those with these devices implanted, and will be monitoring any further data which might arise in the light of the current controversy. No further action is necessary, but as always, if women with breast implants are anxious or have other questions, we would encourage consultation with a properly qualified and accredited plastic surgeon who can discuss the matter with you further.
